The good news? I don’t have a Huawei phone. The bad news? I bought my kid a Huawei phone and she needs Google for her studies.
On 21st May 2019, Google announced it will stop working with Huawei.

That means no Gmail, no YouTube, and no Google Play Store!
Oh my! Google Play Store is everything!
It’s a trade ban imposed by the US government, AKA Donald Trump.

So what’s that got to do with us living outside of the USA? Also, there are no Huawei phones inside of the USA in the first place!
Here’s a Twitter message from the Google Android team to current Huawei phone uses.
“For Huawei users’ questions regarding our steps to comply w/ the recent US government actions: We assure you while we are complying witthe h all US gov’t requirements, servithe ces like Google Play & security from Google Play Protect will keep functioning on your existing Huawei device.”

Going forward, there is nothing to be concerned about right now as a current Huawei phone user.
Probably we will not get any future Android updates, but that’s not a big issue anyway.
By the way, the latest Android OS update killed the pro video camera features in my Samsung Galaxy S10. So please don’t count on new Android OS updates.
