Daily Blog 7 of 30 | J5create Ethernet Adapter Not Working SOLVED

I got my hands on the ethernet adapter and accessed the web at crazy speed!

I bought the J5create JUH470 more than a year ago and never used it.

For an upcoming live stream, I have to activate it for ethernet connection.

That means instead of using wifi, the internet is accessed directly from the line.

J5create not working on Mac?

So, actually the last time I did not follow instructions and tried to plug and play.

Here are the 3 things I did today to make it work.

  1. Install the device driver for my MacBook Pro before plugging in the device. https://en.j5create.com/pages/drivers

  2. Connect the ethernet cable to the router and not to the modem. Thanks to Link Davis.

  3. Go to Apple System Preferences > Network and select AX88179.

Wow! Ethernet is Faster Than WIFI!

I turned off the Wifi on my MacBook Pro and let the ethernet run the show.

To my utter surprise, I discovered that internet speed is 6 times faster.

I am subscribed to M1 Home Broadband and have always used wifi.

This is also the first time my 2013 MacBook Pro is connected directly.

It’s time to start shopping for a faster wireless router to match the speed.

The reason I bought this model is for the extra 3 USB 3.0 ports.

Now I can connect more devices like the video capture recorders.
