Where To Dispose Of Old Printers In Singapore

Update 11 Feb 2020: New City Square Mall E-waste Recycling website… See below.

I have an old Canon IP4870 inkjet printer. Where can I dispose of it in Singapore?

Still prints. Prints with smudges. Bought a new printer. It’s now occupying space.

I can simply dump it in the big trash bin downstairs, but are there any other ways?

  1. RENEW (REcycling the Nation’s Electronic Waste). A collaborative consumer-driven environmental effort between three partners – StarHub, DHL, and TES. You can recycle almost any electronic product in the RENEW bins. However, all recycled items must be able to fit through the bin’s 470mm x 120mm slot. Here is the list of RENEW bin sites… https://www.starhub.com/about-us/corporate-sustainability/recycling-nations-electronic-waste.html
Oops! It seems my printer is taller than the 120mm high slot.
  2. M1 E-waste Drop-Off Point Programme. The M1 Drop-off Point Programme is a joint effort between M1 Limited & Virogreen (Singapore) Pte Ltd to promote responsible disposal of e-waste. Here are the locations… https://www.nea.gov.sg/docs/default-source/default-document-library/m1-e-waste-drop-off-point-programme—-bin-locations.pdf
Ok. The bins slots are bigger here. Can consider.
  3. City Square Mall E-waste Recycling Programme. Bring your electronic waste (or e-waste) to our L2 Customer Service Counter for recycling… https://www.citysquaremall.com.sg/events-promotions/e-waste-recycling-programme/ Ok. No bins. Just bring it to their service counter.

There’s more. Check out NEA’s e-waste management website… https://www.nea.gov.sg/our-services/waste-management/3r-programmes-and-resources/e-waste-management/where-to-recycle-e-waste

See you in the next one.

  1. So…. I still don’t know where I can dispose of my old printer. Either the bin slots are too small…or there is no bin…or there is an indication on the bin there forbids dropping the printer there…. Do I just dump the printer in the blue bins outside?
