What You’ll Need:

  • CapCut Mobile app (available on iOS and Android)
  • Your smartphone

Instructions:ย 

  1. The Performance: Record yourself pretending to swipe something off your phone screen and into the air. Get creative!
  2. The Screenshot: Take a screen capture of whatever you want to appear as the ‘hologram’.
  3. Open CapCut: Start a new project and tap “Add” to import your swipe recording.
  4. Add the Overlay: Select “Overlay” -> “Add Overlay” -> “Photos” and choose your screenshot.
  5. Positioning and Opacity: Resize and position the screenshot overlay where you want the hologram effect to appear. Adjust the opacity to around 60% for a realistic look.
  6. Timeline Matching: Stretch the screenshot overlay’s duration in the timeline to match the length of your recording.
  7. Keyframe Magic: Move the timeline playhead to the end of your swipe motion and add a diamond keyframe.
  8. Starting Point: Move the playhead back to where your swipe begins. Reduce the hologram’s size and position it on your phone.
  9. Add Some Flair: Rotate the overlay slightly to give your hologram a dynamic effect.
  10. Fade Out: Adjust the opacity to zero at this keyframe.
