Hostinger Web Hosting Review from Singapore – Part 2: Domain Setting

Where are Hostinger servers located? Hostinger servers are deployed in 7 different regions: UK, US, Brazil, Netherlands, Singapore, Indonesia and Lithuania. ~ https://www.hostinger.com/technology

(Update 21 Dec 2020… I have left Hostinger… I am now using Bluehost and Hostgator)

Previously…

I have the Hostinger Premium Web Hosting account at a cheap rate of $3.49 per month.

It’s time to set up a website… and I am journaling the process, step by step.

If you missed the first part about signing up for the web hosting service, here it is…

Hostinger Web Hosting Review from Singapore – Part 1: Getting Started

If you want to follow along, you can get a 30-day free trial here.

Logging In

From the Hostinger.com main page, click on “Login” on the top right.

I signed up using my Facebook account. So in the “Log In” screen, I just click on the “Log in with Facebook” button, without having to input my email and password.

Type in your email and password if you must.

Setting Up

The next screen prompts you to set up your orders.

Clicking on the Setup button takes you to the domain name set up page.

There are 3 choices. Buy a new domain name, use an existing domain name, or transfer a domain from another web host.

NOTE: You may not see this screen if you have chosen the FREE domain name during the web hosting order process. Now there is no option that allows you to go back and get that free domain name. We may need to contact Hostinger’s Helpdesk to get it.

In my case, I want a new web host for my current domain, so I will choose “Use existing domain”.

Clicking on “Use existing domain” prompts you to type in your domain name.

I keyed in a domain that I own and parked in a domain registrar, “instantviralvideo.com”.

From the domain registrar, I have to set the Hostinger’s 4 name servers as given.

The next screen presents 5 methods to get your website online.

5 Methods to Setup a Website

The five methods are Install WordPress, Auto Installer, Zyro Builder, File Manager, and Access Manager.

Hostinger Web Hosting Website Installation

Install WordPress – This is what I will use for most of my websites.

Auto Installer – Instead of WordPress, we can install other types of websites for e-commerce and business, content management, community building, surveys and statistics, photos and files management. The most popular installers are WordPress, Joomla, PrestaShop, OpenCart, phpBB, and Drupal.

Zyro Builder – The above Installers may require extensive technical know-how of the application you are installing. If you want to setup your website quickly without any technical knowledge, that’s where Zyro Builder comes in. Just choose a template and everything else is simple drag and drop.

File Manager – Another way to build a website is to use a web design software on your computer. After you are done designing, use File Manager to transfer your website design files from your computer to your Hostinger account.

Access Manager – Allow third party, other than yourself, to access your account to help you build your website. The access will most likely be for your web developer vendor.

Cpanel

Just being curious, what if I click on “Skip this, I will do it later >>”?

Clicking it brings me straight to the Cpanel, a dashboard to manage the web hosting elements, such as emails, domains, files, databases, and other advanced stuff.

However, I can’t do much without first having a domain.

I will go ahead now to point the domain to Hostinger nameservers and will be back to explore WordPress installation and the Cpanel.

Next Actions

What can you do better?

  • Be sure to register your free domain name during the ordering process. Otherwise, you may not see that option after signing up.
