I was looking for a wifi extender solution and I came across a S$20 Xiaomi Wifi Router.
Really? S$20? … While the other wifi router brands are over S$100?
Let’s check out out.
Is this an old model?
The 4C was launched in China back in July 2019. It’s not old.
Then there are other more expensive models…
- Xiaomi 4C
- Xiaomi 4A
- Xiaomi AX9000
- Xiaomi AX6000
- Xiaomi AX3600
- Xiaomi AX1800
I’m attracted to the S$20 pricing, but is it good enough for me? Is it good enough for heavy Fortnite gaming streaming?
How many devices can it handle? I need another device to playback the chats.
Xiaomi claims that up to 64 devices can be connected to the router.
What are the main features?
- – 4 High-performance antenna
- – Up to 300Mbps speed
- – Mi Wi-Fi App connectivity
- – Parental Control
- – Wi-Fi Speed Boost
Is 300mbps fast enough for gaming?
A 300Mbps wifi connection would be fast enough for TV and movie streaming and gaming as long as your device connects to it at a high enough speed, is reliable at that speed (low packet loss), and had consistent low ping times (which is what affects gaming). ~ https://www.quora.com/How-fast-is-300mbps-gaming
Which is the best budget wifi router for gaming and streaming?
One recommendation is the S$80 TP-Link Archer AX10 AX1500 WiFi 6 Router.
The AX1500 has a maximum wireless speed of 1.5Gbps: the 5GHz band maxes out at 1,201Mbps, the 2.4GHz band at 300Mbps.
So the Xiaomi My Wifi Router 4C is not 5G. It’s slower. Only 2.4Ghz speed.
Is 5g wifi required for gaming and streaming?
- For gaming, you require additional and enhanced speed on your Wi-Fi network. Since 5GHz offers the best possible speed that you can get on your internet connection and from your router, it is always recommended for you to choose 5GHz for your gaming needs.
- 5 GHz networks do not penetrate solid objects such as walls nearly as well as do 2.4 GHz signals.
- It actually has a lower range than 2.4GHz, so you’ll need to move a little close to the router.

Is 2.4ghz good for gaming?
- Ideally, you should use the 2.4GHz band to connect devices for low bandwidth activities like browsing the Internet. On the other hand, 5GHz is the best suited for high-bandwidth devices or activities like gaming and streaming HDTV.

Is 2.4 GHz laggy?
- All too often, the culprit of slow WiFi is use of the 2.4 GHz band, which offers slower data rates and is often oversaturated with WiFi and non-WiFi devices, like microwave or baby monitors.

Conclusion
- I am the only in the house gaming and streaming.
- The others in the house are just zooming and watching movies.
- I need the 5g speed.
- I have the 5g dual speed wifi router in the living room.
- I may bring 5G router in to my workstation room… Extended via TP link AV600 powerline ethernet extender.
- Put the Xiaomi Mi 4C Wifi Router in the living room.
