What is Bluehost Server Credentials for Jetpack to Connect and Restore Backup – Bluehost Review

For Jetpack to restore my Bluehost website VIDEOLANE.COM quickly, it is asking me to provide my SSH, SFTP, or FTP server credentials.

– Credential Type

– Server Address and Port Number

– WordPress Installation Path

“Set up your server credentials to get back online quickly… Add SSH, SFTP, or FTP credentials to enable one-click site restores.”

Selecting Enable Restores brings me to…

Tapping on Bluehost…

Here is the Jetpack instruction page… https://jetpack.com/support/backup/credentials-instructions-from-popular-hosts/

For Bluehost, it says …

  • Bluehost: SSH/SFTPFTP
    • Bluehost includes FTP access automatically. You can use your Bluehost account username and password. The server address should be your domain name.
    • SSH access is disabled by default. Follow these steps to enable it.

I found my server, user name, and password in my old email when I ordered the Bluehost WordPress Managed Hosting… but I’m missing the WordPress installation path…

It says…

“We looked for `wp-config.php` in the WordPress installation path you provided but couldn’t find it.

…could not find WordPress files in given path `/public_html/` [invalid_wordpress_path, 422]

…We can’t read your WordPress installation directory. Please make sure the file path is correct.”

So I contacted Bluehost Support…

The support tech couldn’t fix the issue and escalated the issue to the server specialist and asked them to contact me via email.

A few minutes later, I received an email from Jetpack saying that the latest backup did not completed successfully.

About 6 hours later, I received an email with a set of credentials that look like the same ones I used.

Anyway, let’s give it a try. They may have tweaked something inside.

True enough it still does not work.

I replied to the email with some screenshots. They replied and suggested I use SSH/SFTP and /public_html without the / at the end.

Still does not work.

The next day, another support staff emailed me saying I misspelled my user name and was very confident he solved the problem by asking me to rate his service.

Lo and behold… it didn’t work.

This time I cannot even log in to the server.

I emailed the screenshot again, this time with my password visible.

I requested them to try logging in on my behalf with the password.

The funny thing is… I got a reply saying… “…we would request you to please give us the credentials to access the WordPress.com account… so we will be able to connect and replicate the issue and would surely try our best to get to the root of this and resolve it for you.”

At the same time… it says … “I have resynced the password on this account on my end, please do give it another try…”

Let me give it another try.

It works!Finally, this is what I see…

The story ends.
