How to Update Bluehost PHP Version to 7.3 for WordPress

How to change PHP version in Bluehost?

My self-hosted WordPress website says my site is running an outdated version of PHP (7.0.33), which requires an update.

It goes on to say “PHP is the programming language used to build and maintain WordPress. Newer versions of PHP are faster and more secure, so staying up to date will help your site’s overall performance and security. The minimum recommended version of PHP is 7.3.”

The outdated PHP could be the reason my website is loading slowly.

So let’s update it…

  1. Log in to Bluehost Cpanel.
  2. Go to Programming category.
  3. Select PHP Config.
  4. Choose PHP 7.3.
  5. Click on Save Changes.

Done!
