Testing my 20,000 mAh Mini Power Bank Capacity from Tiktok Shop SG

How do I check the capacity of a power bank? How do I know if it has 20,000mAh of power? 

I bought a mini power bank from The TikTok Shop. It is labeled as a 20,000 mAh power bank…

However, because it is so compact and lightweight, I want to check if it really contains 20,000 mAh of power.  

I know the proper way to check the power capacity is to use an electronic measuring device, but I’m going to use the layman’s method.

I’m going to test how many times this mini power bank can charge my iPhone 12 Pro Max.

The iPhone 12 Pro Max battery capacity is 3,687mAh.

So, in theory, a 20,000 mAh power bank should charge the phone from 0% to 100% about five times. 

Anyway, in the product description, it says it can charge an iPhone two to three times. Scroll down to see the product description.

The Test

I charged the power bank with its provided micro USB cable. The battery level indicators blink while charging. 

When fully charged, the indicators stopped blinking. I didn’t measure how long it took to charge. Let me do that in another test. 

I drained my iPhone 12 Pro Max battery completely for this test.

The fully charged power bank was plugged into the fully drained iPhone 12 Pro Max to begin the test.

1 hour later, the battery level indicator on the power bank shows 75%…

… and the iPhone 12 Pro Max is charged up to 38%.

Two hours later, the power bank battery level indicator shows 50%… 

.. and my iPhone 12 Pro Max is charged up to 68%. 

Three hours later, the power bank battery indicator level shows 25% (can’t see it clearly in the pic, coz the test continued while I was on my way to the airport)…

…and the iPhone 12 Pro Max is charged to 96%.

3 hours and 19 minutes later, the phone was charged fully. 

The iPhone 12 Pro Max was fully charged to 100%…

… while the power bank’s level indicator shows 25% remaining. 

This 20,000 mAh mini power bank can only charge my iPhone 12 Pro Max fully less than 2 times. 

But wait…

A Tiktok Shop peer tells me his 20,000 mAh power bank improves over time. The more he charges the power bank, the more capacity it develops.

Strange, but I will review it again when that happens.
