9 April 2020, Singapore’s Ministry of Education (MOE) stopped schools from using the video conferencing platform Zoom after several hacking incidents.
- Hackers hijacked live-streaming lessons with obscene pictures appearing on some students computer screens.
- The security breach likely happened because the Zoom meetings were entered with just a given link instead of logging in with passwords.
- Zoom does have security features built-in. We just need to know how to use them.
So for my upcoming class, I will continue to use Zoom, ensuring that participants join the session with password login.
The live online class will happen next weekend, on 18 April 2020, for the 2-day Videography and Video Editing Course for BEGINNERS.
In the mean time, I am practising my online presentation skills by going online and teaching mini-lessons for free. Take a look at this… https://facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=256427965516444&id=109841764488
What could be better? I was speaking in two tones. One for YouTube and one for Facebook. Why? I just felt that no one was watching, so i was just self-documenting. However, I did well for this one… https://www.facebook.com/VideoLane/videos/246179523235845/
What’s the difference? I knew there was an audience.
π Go live and present like there are people watching even though you know there is no one.
Today is a public holiday. It’s Good Friday. Will I stream today? Yes… Double down… The topic will be Final Cut Pro X Video Editing… https://www.facebook.com/VideoLane/live/

What am I thankful for today? Wifey and kiddos are all at home. I wish they could be at home all week to stay safe from the corona virus, but 2 of them have to go to work for their “essential service” company.
Have you encountered any Zoom hacking incident?
