I Paid for Google Photos

Here are the reasons why I paid for Google Photos (Google One actually) and not for alternatives (Including NAS drives).

  1. Integrates as part of my phone’s gallery, hence help in managing the local memory. 2 phones. One Android. One iPhone.
  2. Since I am already a heavy user of Google Photos and love it, it is time I pay google for the service.
  3. It has compression features that keep my files small yet looking good.
  4. The cost of setting up and maintaining my own NAS backup drives is about the same. Might as well pay Google to do it.
  5. The other cloud storage services, like Microsoft One Drive or Dropbox or Amazon Prime, don’t have intelligent photo management.

Do I feel like I’m cornered or trapped in this situation? No. I knew this day will come.

Which Google Paid Plan did I buy?

I signed up for the 100GB S$27.99 annual subscription plan.

Let’s see how fast I will take to reach the 100GB limit. Follow my journal.

I am ready to upgrade to more storage space until I find a better alternative.
