Here’s how I remove the background of an object in a video without a green screen using CapCut:

  • Open CapCut and start a new project.
  • Select a video and tap on Add.
  • While the video is selected in the timeline, go to the Cutout tool.
  • Choose Customized Cutout.
  • Select Brush.
  • Reduce the brush size.
  • Paint over the entire object.
  • When you are done, tap on the check mark.

We now have the object floating in the black space. Now let’s add a new background:

  • Tap the plus button.
  • Select a new background and tap on Add.
  • Select the object clip and choose Overlay.
  • Drag the overlay under the new background.
