Let’s jump into it.

I relied solely on my GoPro to shoot an entire trip in Tokyo Japan with the family. I didn’t use any big camera nor my smartphone camera.

The video turned out good after editing.

However I am not entirely happy about it.

Let me tell you why and make sure to stick around till the end because I will also share with you a link to download my “10 GoPro Travel Video Editing Tips”.

So here are the top 10 reasons why I like and hate the GoPro Hero7 Black action camera.

5 Things I Like About the GoPro Hero7 Black

1. It’s small. Smaller than a mirrorless camera. Even smaller than a smartphone.
2. It’s not a phone. That means I can still use my phone while shooting timelapse.
3. It shoots timelapse. Wide angle time lapse always looks beautiful.
4. It shoots Hyperlapse. Great for shooting while walking without the shake.
5. I don’t need a gimbal. Its video is so stable you can’t believe your hands.

One more thing… I can go underwater. Things don’t just happen on land, they happen in water too.

Ok, every silver lining has a cloud. Huh?

5 Things I Hate About the GoPro Hero7 Black

1. I can’t zoom in. Everything is wide angle, I can’t show you what I want you to see far away.
2. Battery life is too short. Power keeps running out every 2 hours, I have recharge constantly.
3. It can’t see in the dark. Actions don’t just happen in the day. They happen at night too.
4. It’s too slow. I missed many candid shots because the record button took so long to respond.
5. The voice activation suck. One of my recordings stopped because somebody said something that sounds like “GoPro Stop Recording”!

One more thing… I cannot shoot close-ups of small objects. Everything goes out of focus when I bring the camera within 6 inches from the subject.

Is it Worth Buying for Travel Videos?

So those are the top 10… I mean 12 reasons why I like and hate the GoPro Hero7 Black for travel videos.

Is it worth buying? Well, when travelling with the family, I want to enjoy the moment and not get bogged down by a big camera with all its lenses and accessories. So, the tiny rugged GoPro makes a perfect travel camera companion for me.
