How to download Facebook live videos from a private group in HD?
This week, while conducting my 2-day Videography And Video Editing Workshop in Singapore, I live streamed the sessions to a private Facebook group.
The video was recorded online and looks good when played back in HD 720P.
I want to download these recorded sessions to edit them into smaller chunks.
Then I discovered that there are many ways to download a private Facebook group video.
There are two problems though.
Most download methods don’t work and those that work gave me the low-resolution version in 360p.
Since there is no proper way to download the high-definition version, I created my own method.
So here is how to download a live HD video from a Facebook private group.
- Download, install and run Wondershare Filmora9.
- Select “Record PC Screen”.
- Turn on “System Audio”.
- Press the record button.
- Watch the 5-second countdown timer.
- From the internet browser, go to your Facebook private group page, play the video in full screen, and set the playback quality at 720P.
- Stop recording when the video is complete.
Okay, this is not really downloading the video, but at least I am getting a high-resolution version of the video.
All you need is a screen recording software.
If the video is 2 hours long then it will take 2 hours to record.
I have to set my computer to “Do Not Disturb” mode.
There are many screen recording software. Wondershare Filmora9 is actually a video editing software which comes with a very easy to set up screen recording function built in.
One more thing. Wondershare Filmora9 is free for 30 days.
Next, I will be editing these downloaded videos. Tune in to the next post to watch. Subscribe.
