Best WiFi Routers for Home: TP-Link Archer AX55 vs Alternatives

As someone living in a 5-room HDB in Punggol, Singapore, I’ve been on the lookout for a new router to improve my home’s Wi-Fi connectivity. After doing some research, I’ve narrowed down my options to the TP-Link Archer AX55 and its alternatives: Netgear RAX20 (AX1800), Netgear Nighthawk R6700AX (AX1800), TP-Link Archer AX21 (AX1800), and ASUS RT-AX1800S (AX1800).

TP-Link Archer AX55

The TP-Link Archer AX55 is a great all-around-performing WiFi router with just a few areas for improvement. It consistently provides top 2.4 GHz speeds, offers TP-Link’s exceptional and robust parental controls, and has a super simple PC interface. However, it has a below-average range and only explicit beamforming.

Netgear RAX20 (AX1800)

On the other hand, the Netgear RAX20 (AX1800) has good 5 GHz throughput and good flash and RAM. However, it has poor QoS options and a less than straightforward setup.

Netgear Nighthawk R6700AX (AX1800)

The Netgear Nighthawk R6700AX (AX1800) has good memory and a good mobile interface but a poor quality of service and setup.

TP-Link Archer AX21 (AX1800)

The TP-Link Archer AX21 (AX1800) comes with parental controls, a simple PC interface, and streamlined setup but has middling range and a subpar mobile interface.

ASUS RT-AX1800S (AX1800)

Lastly, the ASUS RT-AX1800S (AX1800) is easy to use but has no USB ports, low 5 GHz throughput, and shorter range.

Conclusion: Make an Informed Decision

In conclusion, each of these routers has its strengths and weaknesses. It ultimately depends on what features are most important to you. For me, I value parental controls and ease of use so I’m leaning toward the TP-Link Archer AX55 or the TP-Link Archer AX21. Take some time to consider your needs and make an informed decision on which router is best for your home.
