Should I install fiber broadband in the office?

Maybe not because I work outside the office most of the time and I work alone.

So the next question is… Has mobile Internet caught up with its speed?

I need the high-speed for online video delivery to clients.

That led me to discover 4G and what 4G is all about.

What is 4G?

In telecommunications, 4G is the fourth generation of mobile phone communications standards. It is a successor of the third generation (3G) standards.

What is the advantage of 4G?

One main advantage of 4G is the speed of internet access which is higher than 3G (excluding broadband and Wi-Fi connections).

What is the speed of 4G?

Theoretically 100 megabits per second to 1 gigabits per second.

What is 4G LTE?

LTE stands for Long Term Evolution. 4G LTE is not the full 4G. It is actually a pre-4G standard. The main difference being slower than full 4G.

What is the speed of 4G LTE?

Theoretically, download speed is 100 megabits per second and upload speed is 50 megabits per second.

Which countries support 4G and 4G LTE?

Africa, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, France, India, Middle East, Scandinavia, South Korea, Sri Lanka, UK and US.

Is 4G available in Singapore?

SingTel, Starhub and M1 now offer 4G LTE service that will offer theoretical download speeds of up to 75 Mbps and typical download speeds between 3.4Mbps and 12 Mbps.

But wait… 4G is still under construction in Singapore!

Islandwide 4G LTE network coverage is scheduled to be completed by 2013.

StarHub customers can enjoy the 4G LTE service in the Central Business District (including Shenton Way, City Hall, Raffles Place, Tanjong Pagar, and Orchard Road), as well as in Sentosa, Changi Airport and Singapore Expo.

Which phones support 4G?

HTC One XL, LG Optimus LTE and Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE and iPhone 5.

Conclusion?

Now I know what to shop for in the coming IT fair, SITEX 2012, 22 to 25 November 2012 at the Singapore Expo.

I may get a 4G iPhone 5 or maybe a 4G internet dongle stick.
