Here’s the step-by-step breakdown:

Capcut Explosion Tutorial

  1. First, record yourself holding something. Pretend to make it explode and remove it.

  2. Open CapCut and start a new project. Select the recording and tap on “Add”.

  3. Move the timeline to where the object will explode. Select the clip in the timeline and choose “Freeze”.

  4. Trim away the part where the object is removed.

  5. Select the freeze frame clip and apply “Overlay”. Duplicate five layers off the freeze frame and lay them over each other.

  6. Start from the bottom layer, and apply “Remove BG” and “Custom Removal”. Select “Brush” and paint over one piece of the object. Repeat this on each layer for a different piece.

  7. Now start from the bottom layer again. Add a keyframe at the beginning. Go to the other end and move the piece out of the screen. Repeat this step for every piece.

Ta-da! You’ve made an explosive masterpiece!
